I.D. that 5.7

Help , newbie here lookin for help on identification of a 5.7. How can I tell for sure if the engine is a 5.7 in the chevy truck I am looking at. Sticker says 5.7 but it doesn't run like a 5.7. Where are the numbers located and what should they be? Help me soon or I'll miss the deal. Thanks all Toby

Sorry, about missed your post in all the spam crap we get on here. Should be able to I.D. it from the numbers at the rear of the motor. Should be on the top to the drivers side of the distributer. If that doesn't help let me know and I'll see what else I can do for ya!
